Reading lesson Wednesday March 18, 2020
1) Fundations letter sound drill warm up.
Please say the sounds of the consonants, vowel digraphs, and glued sounds (glued sounds are attached below). Take turns leading! First, have your child say the letter keyword sound and you echo them. Next, you say the letter keyword sound and they echo you. Let them be the teacher.
Here is a link to letter sound drill if you would rather: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kbPqHe4u7k

*Please note we have only gotten up to -ing.
*
**You can find the letter sounds in the packet I sent home on Friday.
Next, write down the following words for your child to tap out (or show them this page).
ring, bang, sing, rang, king, fang, string, wing
(the ending -ing and -ang only need one tap….for example when tapping out the word ring, tap once for the /r/ sound and once for the /ing/ sound. Your child should know how to do this. Have them be the teacher and show you!
2) Practice reading the sight words that were sent home Friday. Practice all the words. Then put them in a baggie so you can practice each day.
Pick one word to use in a sentence (this can be done orally).
3) Pick one book and read it. Before reading review the following:
Remind students that all good readers think to themselves…..

Does it soundright? Does it lookright? Does it make sense?
Also remind students that Readers use more than one strategyto solve hard words!

Please pick 2 questions to answer orally (out loud) and 1 question to write the answer to.
There are fiction (made-up) and non-fiction (real) books to choose from in your baggies.
