September 10, 2020

Dear Parents & Guardians,

As we enter into a new school year, some of you may be wondering what the year will bring, as well as how your child will adapt to the many changes they will encounter. Please understand that this is perfectly normal and we are all feeling some uncertainty. As classes begin on Thursday, September 10, I'd like to share that my number one priority is to make every child feel special and valued as a student and a friend. As I'm sure you know, this helps promote a meaningful, life-long love of learning in children. You and I can create the best start possible for your child by sharing any important information, and working together to provide support as a team. With that being said,  please review some of the important information below to help prepare your child for successful and fun school year:

  1.   Sign up for the “Remind” app. You will receive this info in a letter prior to the students’ first day. Remind allows us to communicate easily and will keep you updated on reminders and messages about our class and any other important information.
  2.   Student Supplies: To keep all of the students safe, each child will be utilizing their own individual supplies. Supplies that will come with the child to school and return home for daily use are- Ziploc Bag with Headphones, another Ziploc Bag with sharpened pencils, eraser, crayons, glue stick and scissors. This will travel with your child daily-it will not remain in school. Please make sure to label your child’s name on the bags!

  3.   Face masks: As a reminder, it is crucial that students wear a mask to school everyday. Mask breaks will be given throughout the day. Please review and practice the correct use of masks with your child. (If your child feels sick or displays symptoms of COVID-19 please do not send them in and be sure to notify the school.)

  4.   Currently students will NOT be eating lunch at school, but they will have snack time. Please make sure your child’s name is clearly written on their snack bag. The snack should be something they can open and manage themselves so as to minimize any contact.

  5.   If your child will physically be in the building, please send in a “just in case” spare set of clothes. Please include a top, bottom, underwear and socks in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child’s first and last name.

  6.   There will. be a wealth of helpful resources and information for parents found on my class website including links to sites we will be using.  More info will be coming about other sites and log ins that you will need.

Please feel free to use the REMIND APP, email or phone to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to meeting and working with your child!
                                                             Sincerely,
                                                         Mrs. Avallone
