Summer Break
Summer Learning Fun!
This summer it is important to continue to practice certain skills to help prevent the Summer Slide. The loss of skills can be prevented by periodic practice of math, reading and writing skills. The following are ways you can assist your child in moving confidently into First Grade:
*Have your child log in to Raz kids and answer the comprehension questions 3 days a week. If your child does the level with ease, chose a book in the next level!
*Have your child start a summer journal where they draw and then write small moments about their experiences. Have your child do this twice a week to keep writing skills sharp!
*Use the sight word lists from your teacher’s website to play the many games we have used during remote learning-review sight words weekly and once those are mastered, go to the next letter sight word list on my webpage.
*When reading your books, search for sight words-digraphs and long/short vowel words.
*You can create a word wall where you post word families, long vowel words and words using all of the digraphs! This makes review easier if the words are posted on a wall or in a folder!
*Use all of your Super Reader Powers to be an Avid Reader!

*Have your child tell you addition and subtraction stories using objects around the house to keep skills strong or ask your child to show you ways to make the number!
*Make flashcards to practice addition and subtraction facts. Once a week, print or write out some basic + and – problems to keep their fact fluency strong.
*Science- Go out and explore the world! Write about what you see and experience.
